From The Highways To The Skyways

Airplane Glory
On a flight from Dallas to Philadelphia I was completely fascinated by, what I later discovered is called, an 'Airplane Glory'. It is also called an anti-corona or a pilot's bow. After reading more about this light phenomenon, which apparently is experienced by many fliers, I learned that the sun needs to be directly behind your head and in front you need an ordinary cloud. The multi-colored cirlce of light around the plane's shadow is called the glory.

Fasten Your Seat Belts
On a flight from Denver to Boston, our path was diverted from Chicago to Buffalo because of severe thunder storms. Needless to say it was a bumpy ride!

Sunset at Thirty Thousand Feet
The sun looks like it is melting through the atmosphere on this flight from Philadelphia to Rhode Island.
