Montana Meanderings

Custer National Cemetery
Crow Agency, Big Horn County

The muffled drums sad roll has beat
The soldier's last tattoo
No more on life's parade shall meet
That brave and fallen few

Berkeley Pit
Butte
A former open pit copper mine, the pit is one mile long and half mile wide and is laden with heavy metals and dangerous chemicals. It has been closed since 1982.

Territorial Prison
Deer Lodge
Built by inmate labor, the first occupant was incarcerated in July of 1871. In the late 1970's, emptied of all prisoners, it became a museum complex dedicated to law enforcement.
