Chester, Massachusetts
The museum is quite unique including being the world's first mountain railroad. They offer Caboose Camping; spend the night in the authentically outfitted 1912 wooden caboose, to the rear of the Engine 74.
Chester Railway Station
This vintage 1840 station is within ten years of being the country's oldest. The structure is a very early example of Italianate architecture, and can be rented for various venues such as weddings, parties, you name it.

Unfortunately the inside exhibits were not open the day I took these pictures, a good reason to return. To visit the Station's website click here.

I am glad you posted on this again. You mentioned the 'Italianate architecture', it seems like all the old train stations I see look like this. It is like they wanted them to all look alike. I think it is great they are allowing it to be used for weddings and such. Wouldn't that make great wedding photos?
Wonderful pictures!! I love seeing the old Northeastern train stations!!
Thanks so much Sunny!!

I would love to take advantage of their Caboose Camping, what fun that would be for a night or two. The museum should have some very interesting displays so maybe you can return. Beautiful photos.

I love railroad stations. We have our town's museum in our old one.
Hi Sunny, I told you yesterday how much I love trains. I grew up with my Daddy working on a railroad. I would go with him to work sometimes --and he would take me for a ride in the engine. SO much fun --and great memories.
Love this post!!
Hugs,
Betsy
We have a Caboose and old train station in our small town...the railway has been turned into a very popular scenic bike trail, but I can remember the trains passing through!
Hi Sunny, I think your photos are grand and well captured, you certainly have got an eye for a photo.Lovely buildings (barns ect) and wonderful Nature shots.
Thanks for your visit and kind comments.
You are most welcome to visit any time.
Have a great weekend.
PS Where abouts in Cornwall was your Mothers House? We try and visit Cornwall every year for a holiday at St Ives.
Very nice pictures and I look forward to hopefully seeing the inside. I don't think I would like sleeping in a caboose, but who know's until they try. :-)
