To Market, To Market...

Country Farm Stand
Ashfield, Massachusetts
We are fortunate to live in a wonderful farming area. There is no shortage of local farmers' markets or farm stands offering veggies, honey, maple syrup, eggs and beef; just to name a few items. I just love this rustic produce stand along a country road.

These small stands are quite popular and sell out pretty quickly. By the time I stopped, there was not a huge selection but what they had was nice and fresh.

From The Farmers' Market
To supplement what's not doing well in our garden, we rely on our local farmers' market.

We are taking part in the Farmers' Market Challenge at

It sounds like you live in the same type of area as we do. It's really nice. I enjoyed seeing these pictures and now I have a tune in my mind.

"To market, to market, to buy a fat pig,
Home again, home again, jiggety-jig jig" :)

The produce looks good. Our farmer's market didn't do well this year. I have sure missed getting fresh veggies. Store bought just can't compare.

Beautiful photographs. My garden has not done well this year. Rain, slugs, crows, tomato worms! Thank goodness for the Farmers' Markets!

This is wonderful. I would want to stop at each one to see what they have.

Sunny, I don't think I've mentioned how much I love your header photo. Every time I pop in here I get a thrill when I see that great old red barn.

Hey Sunny! This is so much more rustic and individual than the huge market in Bellingham. Thanks for letting me see what you got going there. I love the first picture too!

Yum Sunny!!!! I also love buying fresh veggies and fruits at those little stands... We stopped at a fruit stand when we were in GA --looking for GA peaches. Guess what they had???? South Carolina Peaches!!!! SO--we bought them instead. Delicious.
Hugs,
Betsy

Great little farm stand. We have a good Farmer's Market here and I rely on them for my fresh produce during the summer. Unfortunately the growing season is very short here, but I enjoy the bounty while I can. My favorite is the tomatoes. The supermarket just can't compare at all.

The stand is just delightful and just wish my green peppers would be so large! :D

What a cute, rustic little stand. I have found some of the freshest and best produce at stands like that. I rarely see them here except for those selling onions.

Beautiful photos. Thanks for taking part in this month's challenge and helping to raise awareness in buying locally. I am thinking about doing two more before the end of the year to take advantage of the fall harvest. Probably the last weekend in Sept and the first weekend in Nov. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks again,
Judy

Hi Sunny, I loved your comment on my blog today about the suspense of waiting (lol!) I look forward to your visit tomorrow. Amazing that you enjoy buying from stalls. The South African people set their fresh produce out on the pavements in town. Here in Khartoum the veg and fruit sellers display their produce on stands all along the streets. As soon as I can catch a taxi down to the Nile river's edge, I will ask if I may take a photo. We bought from a stall on Friday but my husband reckoned we were ripped off. I'm also doing a post on this soon. Your music is divine. Louis Armstrong singing now: What a wonderful world. Awww. Thanks for shaaring all this. (((Hugs))) Jo

Patronising farmers markets is a must here in the UK. They come to visit the towns now and we get the chance to buy from them every couple of weeks or so. They're not as pretty as yours but they serve their purpous. Good for you supporting them and taking part in the challenge.

Love the bent twig style of stand. Was the seller shy or is it "honor system".
Fresh taste so much better than the super market, perfectly formed, plastic tasting versions of veggies and fruit.

Hi Sunny, those blue berries look fresh and I bet they are delicious! I've tried making blue berry muffins with fresh berries and they were perfect! And that's a cute stand over there!

I would love to build a rustic stand like that in place of our blue tarp! Yes, the small road-side stands sell out quickly here too.
