A Barn Yarn

The other day, I took a shortcut, and got lost temporarily misplaced.
To my delight, I stumbled across this lovely barn.

You don't see a lot of metal cupolas, especially with
a charming cow weathervane.

Sitting next to the barn in the first picture, was another barn
with a second story door.

This barn had a more traditional cupola.

I think this is called 'natural air conditioning'.

Both barns sit very close to the road.

Of course, I had to take a peek out back, and discovered this delightful scene.
These barns are located in Colrain, Massachusetts.

"To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter...
to be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring
- these are some of the rewards of the simple life."

Beautiful red barn Sunny, it's paint has faded almost as much as the paint on ours!

These barns are so charming. LOL about the air conditioning! :)

The last picture is so lovely. Looks like being misplaced can result in wonderful discoveries.

Thanks for you nice comment this morning. It would be wonderful if we lived closer and you could help with the cats, but I'm not sure I could do that to a friend. :)

Hope you're having a nice weekend!

Barns are just so fascinating, Sunny. The first one had a fancy cupola--didn't it, along with that cow weather vane.

I often wondered why they had upper doors on some barns... Guess they back some big trucks up there --and load and unload things....??????

Great pictures. You should put all of your New England barns in a collection.

Hugs,
Betsy

Wonderful place to get lost. Great old barn with a lot of character.

Once again, some terrific shots. I don't think I have ever seen a metal cupola either. Must be a dairy farm, with the cow for the weather vane, or they just like cows.

I mowed the yard, mainly to mulch the leaves. Pooped me out. LOL

the light on the first barn adds so much to its beauty and was almost my favorite of this post, but then I saw the broken window and fell in love with it.

I like both of your barns, but I was surprised at how close they are to the road. The setting is beautiful though.

I almost missed this one, I must have been busy. I really liked the weathered red on barns. I had a cupola like that on a flat roof of a gym that I looked out onto from a second floor of a school room. It was strange to see them use something like that on a public school. Don't get so lost that you can't come back to share your pictures.

I find myself misplaced once in awhile in my back roads traveling but I can't seem to find barns nearly as cool as yours. I love them all, each and every detail. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful finds.
