I can tell it is very old, and it reminds me of bamboo for some reason. Gorgeous broad side of a barn. I have seen on TV where people live in the old barns. But they change them. I like them like this one, old and wonderfully aged.
Brattcat took the words right out of my keypad. Great shot. Your beautiful photos are the inspiration for most of the posts on my Newtown blog in the couple of weeks to come.
Fantastic image Sunny. One of my favorites to photograph are barns. Haven't taken any for a while though. I've always meant to say what lovely music you have on here too. So relaxing when I browse through all your lovely photos. Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by.
Sunny, I feel like your blog gives me the worst case of "Must Repeat Myself" ever because I am always looking at your photos and saying to myself... WOW!!! ;o)
More specifically, I really love the colors in this shot, and the lines from top to bottom of the frame are really catchy! I also really like the range of lights and darks that you've captured.
One interesting door. I like the pattern of the planks. It looks like they were cut from thicker stock and bookended. Rough work but fine craftmanship.
Wow, Sunny this is quite a find. I love the texture and colors. I enlarged the photo to see the detail and now I'm trying to figure out the boards on the barn. At first I thought it was made from roofing shakes but as I looked up above the door the boards look longer. I can't figure it out but I love it!
I don't understand the wood on this barn. It looks like bamboo, which I know that it isn't, but I don't think I have seen the grain like that before. I may be the way that they cut the wood from the log which gives it a different angle.
From the shores of New England to the Oregon coast, I would like to share some of the places that I've been and things that I've seen.
As we travel you may notice; there is an emphasis on Massachusetts...my home state, you will see a lot of barns...that I love, whether old, new or dilapidated, we are not traveling in any particular direction, and we may visit some places more than once.
Please enjoy my American Photo Journey and your comments are welcomed!

The photo in the title...
features the Far Away Farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts.
I was born in my grandmother's old mill house in Cornwall, England and came to the USA with my parents in 1958. My Dad was in the RAF and as a child I lived in many different locations in England and even the Rock of Gibraltar.
Massachusetts has always been home in the US except for a brief period when I resided in Idaho, giving me a chance to explore the Great American West. For nearly 30 years I lived on Cape Cod before my husband and I moved back to the mountains* of Massachusetts with our Goldendoodle Lucy, and our cats, Lilly and Molly. I am also the mother of a grown son.
*Some of you would call them hills but they're mountains to me!

What a beautifully aged patina on that wood.

I like your barn door. The texture of the wood is amazing. This is simply a great picture.
The wood on this barn is very interesting looking. It makes me want to see more. Very pretty.

Gorgeous wood and wood grain :)
Wow, even since I cannot move back home to the country, I can see plenty of the countryside here in BlogSpot. :)
Thankyouuuuuu !!
I'd love to have a supply of this barnwood and make picture/art frames ! :)

Beautiful old barn, Sunny... Looks like the bushes are growing up OVER the door now. Do they not use it anymore????
Hugs,
Betsy
It looks otherworldly! I bet some wordster could weave a pretty good scary tale around it....
It makes a perfect autumn photo Sunny, even the bush shares the same hue as the barn wood...they compliment each other!

Another great shot! Thank you. :o)
Another exquisite photo. Next year I am going on the back roads for barns in Maine.

I bet theres a tail er tale about that door.
That barn is wonderful. I also think the wood has the look of bamboo. Great shot.
The texture is marvelous and does resemble bamboo. Not only do I wonder what's behind the door, I'm curious what the rest of the barn looks like.
Perfect

Lovely! The barns in your previous post are wonderful too.

Nice lookin' ole' Barn Door. Ever hear the saying "You can't hit the broadside of a barn door if you tried?" I did.

Sunny another beautiful barn and I love the colors in the wood...both the door and the barn itself. Thanks for posting another of your beloved barns.
