Ashfield, Massachusetts Fallen leaves and skies of gray,
birds of summer fly away
To longer days with sunshine bright,
where daylight stays well into night.
birds of summer fly away
To longer days with sunshine bright,
where daylight stays well into night.
In springtime when the days grow long,
we'll listen for familar song
And welcome back our feathered friends,
rejoying at the winter's end.

Beautiful post Sunny! That was a very interesting tidbit about you coming over in a ship and seeing the S.S.United States.
I know what it's like to be out to sea during a terrible storm.
I love this photo, Sunny...it's just the way i remember New England in autumn! Lovely poem. Lizzy :)
What a very pretty scene.
Lovely words to accompany that picture Sunny. I'm assuming you wrote them. Yes?
Great marriage of photo and verse. I saw on TV where people are buying old barns, restoring them and turning them into homes.
Lovely poem you've penned Sunny.
Away they go! Beautiful capture and poem. It won't be long before it's time to welcome them back. :)
What a perfect composition, Sunny. Quintessential New England late autumn.
I love this poem, Sunny! It's so appropriate and perfect. I also love this picture. It's so pretty there, and your composition of it is wonderful!

Very nice photo and great words. You live in a place of many beautiful sights. Thank you for stopping by to see me.
you know I liked the barn, the birds make it more special. all those birds in the photo were headed here, the sun is shining
today and there are many birds floating in the air.
Thanks fof all this
Beautiful photo. Thoses geese move on to my farm pond and overwinter here so they can get fed corn along with my geese. This didn't happen until the last few years. They are messy and do get used to me coming. The wild ducks are there right now.
Another lovely barn and I enjoyed the verse. Are these barns close to you home Sunny?
Neat barn, Sunny. I saw a PINK barn today--but didn't have my camera. Thought about you!!!!
The birds are headed to warmer climate for the winter, aren't they???
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for visiting and your kind words.
Valerie, Thank you, yes I did write the poem.
Chris, Thank you, most of the barns I have photographed are within 20 miles of my home. Some are right around the corner, others a bit further away. A few are out of state but not too far.
Betsy, I would have loved to seen the pink barn. I think the birds are headed south, not sure how far though!
Sunny :)
Wonderful picture. I like to see how farms are laid out. Not that I know anything about farming at all.
Great poem also.
Hello sweet Sunny!
First of all thanks so much for your always kind words and comments, I appreciate it a lot!
And please forgive our absence, we were travelling again!
But now, I'm so happy because I miss my blog's friends a lot!
I liked a lot your composition for this post, beautiful words and fabulous shot!
Have a nice week!
Léia
I think I saw them flying over my house, but I like seeing them fly over that lovely old barn on Steady Lane better.
Your words are wonderful, Sunny. Thanks for sharing them. And again I say, here's a book in you somewhere!
This barn photo just fills my eyes. How gorgeous--it reminds me of the dilapidated barns my Grandfather built long ago. Some of them still stand.
YOur poetry is so warm and inviting to read.
Good morning Sunny! Such a great shot! I love the depth of colour you captured and also the birds overhead - they add drama!
I love the poem too. You are such a talented lady. thank you. :o)
