Yes, they are hard to find. This little coffee shop here in our town, has one above their door that says, OPEN, and then every so often it will flash, so many flashes and then it stays lite for a while and starts over, it does catch your eye.
Greetings fropm Australia. You have some lovely photos here. I like especially the farm and valley ones - lovley places to be in. The Cichy's Garage one reminds me of "Happy Days." Enjoy your weekend. Cheers. Melbourne Daily Photo
That is a very classy sign. At the art store today they were showing an artist work who has become a neon light artist. It was very large and was a word, can't remember what it said, but they did it in cursive.
I do remember the old signs, every motel on the roads had a blinking one that kept us awake with flashing lights. we have many of them here now because someone is making them and selling them. they even hang them underneath the cars. this sign truly is a good one for a gray day.
From the shores of New England to the Oregon coast, I would like to share some of the places that I've been and things that I've seen.
As we travel you may notice; there is an emphasis on Massachusetts...my home state, you will see a lot of barns...that I love, whether old, new or dilapidated, we are not traveling in any particular direction, and we may visit some places more than once.
Please enjoy my American Photo Journey and your comments are welcomed!
YOU MAY CLICK ON ANY PICTURE TO ENLARGE IT.
The photo in the title...
features the Far Away Farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts.
I was born in my grandmother's old mill house in Cornwall, England and came to the USA with my parents in 1958. My Dad was in the RAF and as a child I lived in many different locations in England and even the Rock of Gibraltar.
Massachusetts has always been home in the US except for a brief period when I resided in Idaho, giving me a chance to explore the Great American West. For nearly 30 years I lived on Cape Cod before my husband and I moved back to the mountains* of Massachusetts with our Goldendoodle Lucy, and our cats, Lilly and Molly. I am also the mother of a grown son.
*Some of you would call them hills but they're mountains to me!

Who would have thought a neon sign would be so eye catching? Why Sunny of course. Love it.
My brother is VP of a sign company up in Michigan that specializes in neon. They have been REALLY busy as it's becoming quite popular again.
He even had aneon sign made for me last year for my birthday with his nickname for me on it. Very cool.
:-)
Neon signs are so cool.
Those new fangled LED bright billboards are NOT COOL!!

It is nice to see a neon sign. I personally think they look much better than some of these new digital signs that are popping up.
A business that keeps its traditional ways for over 40 years is certainly something to respect!
God bless you!

This sign is really wonderful in it's nostolgic feel--thank you so much for sharing!
A soft glow is better than a bright glare...
I love the old neon signs. I wish they would make a come back.
I love neon signs. Hope they do come back.
Neon signs were always prettier than what they use now. I'm guessing though that they are not very energy saving.
I have something for you over at my place, come take a look see!

That's a great old 1964 sign, Sunny. What is old now seems to be new again, it sure dose brighten up the sky.
It is pretty! You don't see many of these any more.

One of the reasons we love downtown Vegas vs. the "Strip" is the Neon lights that are downtown...LED seems to be taking over the strip!
Great eye Sunny!
