Have you ever had the feeling that you were being watched? It was getting close to sunset, and I had taken Lucy out for a walk...I couldn't shake the feeling that there were eyes following us. I looked around and spotted this Barn Owl sitting in a tree.
Dusk was setting in, it was bitterly cold, and suddenly the woods took on a very eerie feeling. It was time to go home!
If you look at the branch to the right of the owl, you can see icicles.

fantastic to see him there. we had that feeling once when walking in Washington State Park in Ormond Beach FL. the owl watching us was the largest i have ever seen, he was at least 2 ft or more. his head turned round and round as we walked under him to see what he would to. no camera with telescope then. we have 2 8 inch screech owls that live in our neighborhood and we hear them early and late. Only seen them twice
Sunny, the picture of the owl is great. I can't tell you how many hours I spent chasing and snapping some hawks that had built a nest in a very large tree in our yard I realy enjoyed it and got some great shots, some of which I posted. Some of the best photos just seem to present themselves At
the most unsuspecting moments.
You weren't too spooked or you wouldn't have made this great capture.
You sure captured a nice photo of this handsome guy/gal.
Oh, i love this one! I don't see owls here. This one is a beauty and perfect in monochrome.
It a lovely picture, Sunny. I didn't think it looked too eerie.
What a wonderful sighting, Sunny and what a clear photo of the owl.
What a lovely snowy owl! :) Owls are the symbol of different things in different countries, in Brazil they usually represent wisdom.
God bless you!

I'm glad you took the time to get this great picture before you headed home. The picture is great in black and white.
Great picture of the barn owl, Sunny. I have never seen one in person ---other than zoos and exhibits.
This time of year, he should be saying "Ho Ho Ho" instead of "Hoo Hoo Hoo"... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Wow...what a great capture! What a pretty owl!
Wow! This is a great photo! I love it!!
What a great shot of the snowy owl in the snowy tree!!
The owl is beautiful and I also love the composition of your photo Sunny!
Beautiful shot! I can see how it would be a little spooky. When one of these big birds is eyeing your dog you got to figure they are sizing it up for dinner. When my twins were little babies we were out berry picking. They started to cry and an eagle came to check them out. It still gives me shivers when I think of it.
Wow--what an amazing catch! I love your story--I've often felt this. And I see...
Whew!
Wonderful shot!
Wonderful capture!
Great capture Sunny, he is beautiful. I hear them often but rarely see one, even then it's only a glimpse. The icicles do make it look cold.
I get that feeling sometimes. :)
I like this picture alot. What a wonderful capture.
Nice photo of that ole' Owl. I know that we have them around here, but just never see them. Wish that I would. They are such amazing birds. "The All Seeing, All Knowing, Owl."
Now that is a sight I would have been so excited to see. To look up and see a majestic barn owl. Fantastic photo!
