Beautiful photo! It looks a bit unsafe though as there appears to be a lot of open water. Very different from the ice fishing here, where the ice gets thick enough that they build huts on the lakes and drive their vehicles out to them.
I'm sitting here just shivering of the thought, being out trying to catch some fish. I have even put on a sweater over my flannel shirt and for some reason this morning, still very chilly. But they say as you age, you don't tolerate the cold as well, perhaps that's true and I have to run a couple of errands soon. It's 21 above here this morning and the sun is shining, I'm tickled for the sun.
I don't think I have the patience to be a fisherman, let alone an ice fisherman. But I have enjoyed your wintry photo while sitting at my computer in a nice warm room!
Ahhh ice fishing! This photo takes me back to the good old days. More than one time I had to be thawed from the ice because I'd be laying on the lake with my face right over the hole. LOL
Then I'd catch something, reel it up and it would smack me in the face on the way by. My dad mocked my technique but I always caught more than he did... ;o)
From the shores of New England to the Oregon coast, I would like to share some of the places that I've been and things that I've seen.
As we travel you may notice; there is an emphasis on Massachusetts...my home state, you will see a lot of barns...that I love, whether old, new or dilapidated, we are not traveling in any particular direction, and we may visit some places more than once.
Please enjoy my American Photo Journey and your comments are welcomed!
YOU MAY CLICK ON ANY PICTURE TO ENLARGE IT.
The photo in the title...
features the Far Away Farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts.
I was born in my grandmother's old mill house in Cornwall, England and came to the USA with my parents in 1958. My Dad was in the RAF and as a child I lived in many different locations in England and even the Rock of Gibraltar.
Massachusetts has always been home in the US except for a brief period when I resided in Idaho, giving me a chance to explore the Great American West. For nearly 30 years I lived on Cape Cod before my husband and I moved back to the mountains* of Massachusetts with our Goldendoodle Lucy, and our cats, Lilly and Molly. I am also the mother of a grown son.
*Some of you would call them hills but they're mountains to me!

Great wintery scene Sunny and title!
This isn't the first time that we've been on the same wavelength.

Amazing to see that person walking in such a beautiful but cold scenery!
Your picture is brilliant like a postcard!
God bless you

I could never go out that far on a frozen lake! Makes a wonderful photo though.
Not a chore I fancy doing this weather. Gosh it looks so cold.
brrr that looks cold. oh my I would just freeze in place.
Was this late in the day or early in the morning?
They are very brave to be walking out there!
I would not walk out on ice to fish, but this is a great picture. we are at 48 and climbing today, bright sunshine and it makes me smile.

LOL on your title, Sunny. :)
This picture is just so beautiful. I love the time of day, the last of the sunlight on the water, the shade of blue, the composition...everything!

Another beautiful picture, but I think I'd rather stay inside with a hot cup of tea! ... even though the fish would be yummy :)
Cool shot Sunny.
You can almost feel the wind bite your nose!
almost as if you'd have to put 'em in the freezer to thaw 'em out! LoL!

Brrrrrrr Sunny... How can those fisher people stand out there???? How do they know that the ice will hold them???? Scary to me.
Hugs,
