What a beautiful scenic roadside you have, Sunny. Amazing photos. I love frozen water and falls but we don't get that close to them here in SA (they're normally high up in the mountains along inaccessible passes) Thanks for sharing yours.
Wow Sunny!!! I LOVE it. It reminds me of the frozen waterfalls we saw recently near Brevard, NC. Love seeing them frozen like that in winter. GREAT pictures. Hugs, Betsy
I know it doesn't work this way... but whenever I see frozen waterfalls I can't help but imagine that it got really cold instantly and at that second, the water stopped flowing...
Hi Everyone, Thank you for your kind comments, they warm my heart on a cold winter's day.
I just wanted to mention that these ice falls are not actually waterfalls. They are small amounts of mountain runoff that run down over the ledges that were blasted away to make room for the road. The water accumulates and freezes, when they thaw in the spring you don't see any signs of water in most areas, except for natural springs.
Well, we're finally thawing out over here. So, scenes like these will soon be a faint memory. I'm so glad it's raining! Wait, i better not say that too loudly. The last thing i wished for was a white Christmas! ;) Lizzy
From the shores of New England to the Oregon coast, I would like to share some of the places that I've been and things that I've seen.
As we travel you may notice; there is an emphasis on Massachusetts...my home state, you will see a lot of barns...that I love, whether old, new or dilapidated, we are not traveling in any particular direction, and we may visit some places more than once.
Please enjoy my American Photo Journey and your comments are welcomed!
YOU MAY CLICK ON ANY PICTURE TO ENLARGE IT.
The photo in the title...
features the Far Away Farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts.
I was born in my grandmother's old mill house in Cornwall, England and came to the USA with my parents in 1958. My Dad was in the RAF and as a child I lived in many different locations in England and even the Rock of Gibraltar.
Massachusetts has always been home in the US except for a brief period when I resided in Idaho, giving me a chance to explore the Great American West. For nearly 30 years I lived on Cape Cod before my husband and I moved back to the mountains* of Massachusetts with our Goldendoodle Lucy, and our cats, Lilly and Molly. I am also the mother of a grown son.
*Some of you would call them hills but they're mountains to me!
