Barns and SiloJacksonville, Vermont
To the European, a Yankee is an American.
To an American, a Yankee is a New Englander.
To a New Englander, a Yankee is a Vermonter.
To a Vermonter, a Yankee is someone who eats
apple pie for breakfast.
And to a Vermonter who eats apple pie for breakfast
a Yankee is someone who eats it with a knife.

Excellent joke, and lovely photo, Sunny
To a baseball fan, a Yankee is a baseball player.
Great photo of a weathered old barn.
So THAT's the definition of a Yankee!! :-)
Love the barn!
And to a Red Sox fan a yankee is ...well...I'm to much of a lady to say...
Beautiful shot Sunny, but about this joke, I'm completely fool,I didn't understand about "eats breakfast with a knife" LOL make no sense but as it's a joke, doesn't need to make sense anyway! :)

I love it.
When I first started working in the Texas oilfields (36 years ago, yipes). Somebody asked me, "Do you know the difference between a Yankee and a damn Yankee?", "Uh, no" I responded. I was told "A Yankee is somebody from up north, a damn Yankee is somebody from up north that goes south." - It was all in fun. Mostly.
I must let my husband know he is a Yankee...he has eaten apple pie for breakfast often.
Another great Barn image Sunny, you certainly seem to find them. Also thanks for the prose I "think " I now know what a yankee is, an Eastern North American who eats Apple Pie with a Knife early in the day.
Hee hee. Love it!
Your picture is beautiful. As always, it seems to be a perfect composition! I can't help but wonder if there are any barns left that you haven't photographed! You always find the good ones.

I always wondered, Sunny... what's YOUR definition of a yankee?
So what's a Yankee to a Red Sox fan? :) Wonderful shot Sunny!
I like your Yankee joke, but I think we apply the same reasoning to other things as well as Yankees. Your picture does a wonderful job of showing Yankeedom.
Being born and raised in the South, I grew up learning that a Yankee was anyone who was not from the South and to be very careful around them---at least that's what my Granny used to tell me! Coincidentally I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. I had no idea there was a Jacksonville in Vermont! I love the silo.
Cute Sunny.... AND --you forgot this one... To a Southerner, a Yankee is anyone who lives "UP NORTH".... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Great joke. As in everything, it's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? It works the same way with age. Your definition of old changes drastically as you yourself age.
That is a great barn!! I think I must be a Yankee want to be as I would love pie for breakfast everyday. If all I had was a knife I could get the job done.
I have always felt misplaced in Iowa as I really like history and antiques and things from the New England area.
That's hilarious! I'm going to have to share this with my New England family... they will LOVE it!
