Oh Deer!

Run!
Charlemont, Massachusetts

While running some errands, I spotted several deer
in the meadow; approaching on foot as quietly
as I could, it didn't take long for them to sense
an intruder and they were off. They had covered
some distance by the time I got this picture,
but if you look closely, you will see the
well known white tail.

Seems they could have hung around long enough for you to get your photo before they took off!

Awesome capture! Trudging through snow for the perfect shot, you are my kind of photograher.

Deer can be rather camera shy, but you've really managed a good action shot!

They look so sweet in the snow. Not so sweet when eating my garden!

Deer are skittish. And thank goodness they didn't run across your path while driving. One evening when I use to work, the school was out more or less in country area, I was sitting in my car, with it facing an open field. And I saw these two animals that I thought at first were large dogs, but as they got a little closer and ran across the road to the wooded area, and as they jumped the fence, I saw the little white cotton tail and realized they were two small deer. But I never saw them again.

Great shot (with the camera), they are fast, and amazing how high they jump when jumping a fence. Almost efortless.

I so worry about the deer and other four-legged wildlife --when it comes to TONS of snow like some places have gotten recently... Where do they go???? Poor things!

Watched and loved the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics last night.

Hugs,
Betsy

You still captured a great shot. We have discovered an area along our Interstate near Des Moines, where the deer are wintering there. It is a grove of brush and trees in a ravine and they can be seen every time we go by that area. It is so unusual that they tolerate the traffic noise.
We have an unmanageable amount of deer in the city as we have a lot of rivers and timber for them to follow and they have grain fields to keep them fed.

Oh my, deer! Aren't they just gorgeous. Deer must be very hard to sneak up on especially with the snow going crunch, crunch with every footstep.

Sunny, I'm glad you and your son are having a nice time.

This is a wonderful shot of the deer. I know how hard it is to get a picture once they take off. You did a great job here.
