O Beautiful For Spacious Skies

Katharine Lee Bates, born in Falmouth, Massachusetts in 1859, wrote the words to 'America the Beautiful'. This statue stands near the library in her hometown.
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Defying Gravity...Still
This past January I posted the picture below of this barn and silo in Jacksonville, Vermont. Several people have wondered the fate of the silo, so my husband and I took a drive to check it out. Well, I'm happy to show you...it's still standing! In fact, it's for sale should you be looking for a project!

Thank Ewe
The other day I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I was the winner in a recent giveaway at Mamabug's Nature Photos and was totally delighted when I received my gift in the mail. A beautiful handmade bag, lovingly created and lined with the cutest froggie material! Tucked inside was a delicate crocheted doily and some yummy honey. It felt like it was my birthday! Over the Mountains And Far Away
Of all the hundreds of barns I have photographed, the ones at Faraway Farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts are my favorite. The old gray barnboards and the rusting tin roof really 'speak' to me. Add a few sheep and I'm in heaven! It is also the farm featured in my header. For more charming barns from around the world,

No Need To Yell
'Mae' is an American Lamancha Goat. Being totally unfamiliar with this breed, a little 'Googling' was in order, and according to what I discovered; Lamanchas are perhaps the most distinctive goat breed easily recognizable by their very short ear pannae. They are also known for their high milk production and comparatively high buttermilk content in their milk. Lamanchas were first bred in Oregon in the early 1950's by Eula Fay Frey.
Please pardon my lack of comments for the next few days...
my son arrives for a visit tomorrow!
