Whatever this mystery plant is.. its very unique and pretty. Kind of looks like a yellow headed thistle of some sort. Never seen anything like it before. Very cool & interesting! _B

I ought to drag my resident amateur botanist up here to the attic to look at this. But it's awfully hot up here and Mr. BC can't abide the computer in any way, shape, or form, so we'll have to wait for a real botanist among our company to step up and identify this amazing plant.

I found it! I dug around for a bit. But it ended up right in my lap on accident. Another Blogger posted a simular picture and described it :) Titled "Yellow Thistle, No" LOL! Here is your mystery plants name: Centaurea macrocephala, Great Golden Knap-weed
Enjoy :) _B

I found it, after much digging. It actually landed in my lap. Another blog I follow, also put one of these up. Perfectly titled "Yellow Thistle? No." .. Your mystery plant is called: Centaurea Macrocephala aka Great Golden Knapweed, found in mostly in Canada Enjoy_B

It is a Bighead Knapweed, Sunny! I called it Spotted Knapweed in your original post, which was wrong!
